What’s that mean? Crypto Terminology Part I
If you have been doing more investigation into the crypto industry, you may have come across some terminology or acronyms you will want to get familiar with. We have put together a list of some common jargon you will want to know.
1) HODL: Hold on for Dear Life
HODL comes from a misspelling of “hold” in the early crypto days and caught on with the crypto community to “hodl” their coins during the volatile market swings and avoid panic selling at a loss.
2) BTD: Buy the Dip
Another common phrase used due to the extremely volatile crypto prices, the advice is to BTD when prices crash lower. Sometimes, BTD may be BTFD, where the “F” is a curse word, adding some extra emphasis to the meaning.
3) DCA: Dollar Cost Average
An investment practice where the investor purchases a set amount, at regular intervals, regardless of the price. This method takes out the emotion of buying and reduces the impact of price volatility.
4) FUD: Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt
A phrase used to classify criticism, negative information or news that would affect the perception or belief in a coin or the crypto market.
5) WAGMI or NGMI: We’re All Going to Make It or Not Going to Make It
An acronym to build confidence and hope, or conversely, to be unsuccessful due to bad decisions and poor judgement.
